Profile

This is an undergraduate program with a duration of six semesters (three years) which proposes a thorough, all-encompassing approach of the history of political thinking, the functioning of political parties, the political phenomena and their developments, as well as of public life problems in Romania. It seeks to train specialists in political science who are qualified to become employees on the specialty job market (central and local institutions, political parties, NGOs, mass-media), or to continue their studies with a master’s program in order to further develop their professional skill set and abilities.

This program trains students in the spirit of professional and academic integrity, in accordance with the ethical foundations of consolidated democracies, with respect for universal human rights and individual freedom.

Content

In the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in English, the basic courses make up 22% of the curriculum, while the additional 62% are specialized ones. Complementary courses and disciplines make up the remaining 16%. The professors are involved in individual or collective research projects in areas related to of the subjects taught and to the institutional research objectives undertaken by the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Bucharest, or to the individual goals of each professor.

FSPUB ensures that the participation of SPE students in international mobility programs is achieved through Erasmus+ funding. In order to help students fulfil the required internship, totaling 112 hours, the faculty has established collaboration agreements with over 200 public and private institutions.

Career opportunities

Some of the graduates of the SPE bachelor’s degree have continued their studies with master’s degrees and doctoral studies in renowned universities from the Anglophone space, Europe, North America, Africa, or Australia.

Graduates of the SPE course work in various fields such as: central and local public institutions (Presidency of Romania, the Romanian Parliament, Ministries of External Affairs, National Security, Department of Public Information of the Government, National Bank of Romania, town halls), or in international NGOs. Graduates can also follow a career in the private sector (stock exchange brokering, financial auditing or law consulting firms) or as consultants within political institutions or lobbying organizations.
