We are delighted to host a talk given by H.E. Diana Reaich, Ambassador to Belgium, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Moldova and Romania, and Deputy Head of Mission to the European Union, on the topic „New Zealand’s future approach to foreign, trade, and development policy in a shifting global strategic context”.
The event will take place Tuesday, May 14th, starting with 11 AM, in the Rectorate building, Soseaua Panduri 90.
Diana Reaich took up her position in Brussels in September 2020 as New Zealand’s Ambassador to Belgium. She is concurrently Ambassador to Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Moldova and Romania, and Deputy Head of Mission to the European Union.
Diana Reaich’s most recent experience in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was as Divisional Manager of People Capability, responsible for leadership development, talent management and people capability across the Ministry. Prior to that she managed the Services and Investment Unit in the Ministry’s Trade Negotiations Division, covering digital issues, services, and investment including during the conclusion of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
From 2004 to 2007 Diana was First Secretary in the New Zealand Permanent Mission in Geneva, with responsibility for non-agricultural market-access, intellectual property, rules of origin, technical barriers to trade and trade facilitation issues. She served as chair of the WTO Customs Valuation Committee. Diana also managed the New Zealand Permanent Mission to the United Nations and to the World Trade Organisation in Geneva from 2014-2017 and was briefly Acting Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva in 2020.
Diana Reaich previously worked in the Ministry’s Legal Division working on bilateral trade issues, social security, and air services agreements. She has also worked in the Ministry’s Pacific Division, including as a negotiator for the Pacific Agreement on Closer Economic Relations (PACER).
