RALUCA ALEXANDRESCU

CV | Raluca Alexandrescu is a Romanian political scientist specialized in the discursive analysis of Romanian an European XIX century political thought, with a strong interest in the conceptual and intellectual history of the political and institutional modernization in Central and eastern Europe in XIX end early XX century, in terms of democratization process, political power legitimacy and institutional settings. She studied political science at the University of Bucharest (French section) and at the University of Bologna. She got her first PhD in Political Sciences in 2007, from the University of Bologna, and her second in 2008, at the University of Bucharest, with a thesis (written in French) regarding the construction and the development of the concept of democracy in modern Romanian political thought. She continued with a POSDRU postdoctoral fellowship (2011-2012), managed by New Europe College, Bucharest, studying the political modernization in Romanian political thought in Belle Epoque period. She currently acts as Senior Lecturer in Political Science and European Studies, and as founding member of the Research Center Fundamenta Politica at the Political Science Faculty of the University of Bucharest. At the same faculty she teaches classes on History of Political Ideas as well as Modern Romanian and European political Thought. She is also member of IPSA (International Political Science Association), Association roumaine des chercheurs francophones en sciences humaines (ARCHES) and of the Research Centre for the Foundations of Modern Thought, University of Bucharest.

She was editorial assistant at Studia Politica, Romanian Political Science Review, issued by the Political Research Institute, University of Bucharest, Faculty of Political Sciences. She is also a publicist for the weekly political analysis magazine 22 and collaborated with several TV news channels.

Research interest: The discursive analysis of Romanian an European XIX century political thought, with a strong interest in the conceptual and intellectual history of the political and institutional modernization in Central and eastern Europe in XIX end early XX century, in terms of democratization process, political power legitimacy and institutional settings.
